Savings = greater happiness

big-smileDid you read the recent interesting Ally study results saying that it isn’t necessarily the salary that you can earn but rather your savings that can really affect your levels of happiness?

If you would like to read in a little more depth I found a nice discussion on the topic here.

OK, so overall such a survey didn’t appeal to my rigorous scientific standards. However,  the gist of it is that despite the 53% of Americans that do not have a saving plan, it is those that save who are happier and in fact, those that save the most are the happiest of all! In this survey, happiness from increasing salary seem to quickly plateau, as seen previously, yet one’s judgement of happiness continued to climb as the savings increased. Of course this is not to say that you shouldn’t go for earning more, it is just that if you do, save even more too!

So it’s clear, save more, be financially free and most of all, be happy!
