Frugal Living

OK, so what is frugal living? Firstly, I’ll describe what frugal living is not. It is not depriving yourself greatly, and making yourself miserable, in order to save just a small amount here and there. It is instead figuring out what is important in your life, what makes you happy and focusing on these, while at the same time gaining your financial independence quickly, so that you can do whatever you want to and really chase your dreams.

Frugal living really comes down to intelligent money management. You have to look at your income and expenses, and figure out how to gain more and waste less. Perhaps a little surprisingly, it is the wasting less that can really make a huge difference to becoming financially free. Thus, by living frugally, you are minimizing your expenses, and so saving your income at levels of 50 % or more, so that you can reach financial freedom in for example 10 to 15 years. This has a huge benefit in many areas of your life, for example through frugality, you can leave a job you don’t like much more quickly, and instead launch into a career that you have much passion about. You can adopt new healthy habits, such as riding your bike or walking to work, greatly improving your health while saving yourself lots of money. Adopting a frugal lifestyle will not only be of benefit to you, but to those around you. You may be able to stop working much sooner, so as to spend much more time with your children or other family members, improving the quality of your relationships. Also, adopting frugal living makes you green, whether you are into environmental conservation or not, due to drastically cutting down your wasteful consumption.

In focusing on frugal living, one of the main goals of my blog is to supply you with a whole bunch of ideas, which may be of benefit in transforming your life, so that you can adopt a more frugal, and healthy lifestyle. I’ll discuss all aspects of a frugal living, and very much welcome your comments on these. This includes how to reduce costs in housing, transportation, food and travel that often form the biggest parts of our expenses. I’ll also highlight potential ideas on how to increase income your income. Now that you are instead acquiring massive quantities of wealth, rather than wasting it all away, I’ll also give potential ideas on what to do with it (please consult your independent financial advisor, if you do decide to make any financial changes).
