Frugal Not Cheap
In attempting to summarize, I would say that being frugal is deciding how you will spend your money, which you have spent your life energy in acquiring, and is not about being cheap. It’s about avoiding unnecessary purchases that don’t really make you any happier, and avoiding impressing others that don’t really care about you. I would suggest that it all boils down to the question of what are your needs verses your wants, and being frugal you can still satisfy these wants many times over. However, in being frugal you are being much smarter about your wants, and you satisfy these in a more intelligent manner, which this blog aims to explain about, so I hope it is of use to you.
Being frugal is about not spending too much on yourself, however it is not about being cheap, and where you do not give time to or spending money on your friends and family. Also, as we know, being so focused on cost cutting as to embarrass friends and family is self-centered and often counter productive. The extremes of cheapness are often not particularly useful, as you can be far more productive with your time and gain many quality friends as well as acquire quality assets, tools, toys, and investments by being frugal instead.
Overall, I would say being frugal is being of benefit to society. In being frugal you can avoid over-consuming, not wasting resources and protecting the environment. You can also free your body and mind from stress and strains of the burdens of debt or having to work in a job you hate, and becoming financially free through being frugal, you can focus on working on things that you really love to do, and feel will be of benefit to others.
