Free Stock Trades – LOYAL3

In a previous post I wrote about using Betterment to get into investing in an automated way without having to pay for trades with the ETFs that they invest in. Well, what happens if you want to invest in certain stocks for various reasons, such as the ones you like have great dividends or that you see tremendous value or potential for growth? Well, I have found one place that allows you to buy and sell a select group of shares for free, which is pretty fantastic. This investing site is LOYAL3, where you can invest as little as $10 to buy and sell stocks.

There are some caveats, as you can have a maximum purchase limited to $2500 per stock per month. Also on the sell side, you can’t use a limit order typical of the big brokerage firms, instead “LOYAL3 uses a batch or combined order process, and typically executes trades only once per day, which means that the price you will receive will differ, perhaps significantly, from the market price of the shares available when you place your order”. At the time of writing I counted 40 stocks on offer, including many of the favorites, such as Apple, Google, Yahoo, Twitter and Amazon to name a few.
